Equiton Developments boasts a highly experienced and respected leadership team with decades of expertise in designing and developing residential communities, specifically within Ontario and across Canada. Our deep roots in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and throughout the province provide us with an intimate understanding of Ontario’s real estate landscape, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics. Principals
Jason is the CEO and founder of Equiton and Equiton Developments. He has over 25 years’ experience in real estate finance, investment, and development, and has spearheaded billion-dollar growth at the organization.
Throughout his career he has overseen all aspects of the real estate investment life cycle including acquisitions, financing, governmental approvals, construction, and operations management. Jason is focused on building quality homes for Canadians and maximizing returns for investors while upholding the highest standard of honesty, integrity and professionalism.
Jason received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto.
Helen is an experienced senior executive, with over 30 years’ experience in the commercial, industrial, and residential real estate industries. She has held executive leadership roles at several leading real estate investment and development companies.
At Equiton Developments, Helen specializes in strategic and operational planning, including financial decision-making. She is responsible for and provides support for Equiton’s overall financial development and operational growth, including security.
Helen is a CPA and holds an Honours B.A. in Economics and Business from York University.
Our Team
Alan is a highly regarded business executive with over 20 years of experience in real estate development and asset management. He is a consummate professional who has developed several billion dollars’ worth of commercial properties in Canada and is responsible for the leadership of Equiton’s development unit, including the strategic planning, financial returns and execution of its office, retail, residential, and mixed-use development platforms.
Alan also manages and represents Equiton Developments throughout the approval and construction processes with various cities, municipalities, government, and other agencies.
Alan has a Master of Urban and Rural Planning from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Les is a seasoned professional within the construction industry, with a wealth of experience spanning various sectors, including high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, and retail. Throughout his career, Les has leveraged his extensive knowledge and industry expertise to mentor many colleagues.
At Equiton Developments, Les is firsthand in every aspect of Equiton’s construction management process. Les is responsible for the entire development lifecycle from preconstruction to project completion, and delivery. He also oversees purchasing and contract management and assists in the design of construction plans.
Les has a Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Science, majoring in project management, from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.
Jean is an accomplished financial leader with a remarkable 25-year record of accomplishment in both real estate and financial services. Throughout her career, she has assumed pivotal leadership positions at several leading real estate investment companies and played a key role in a prominent regulatory organization.
At Equiton Developments, Jean is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and strategic planning related to construction and development projects within the organization.
Jean Zhou is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction in accounting from Toronto Metropolitan University. She further strengthened her commitment to continuous professional development and leadership excellence by completing an Executive MBA program in January 2024 at the Ivey School, University of Western.
Kimberley Crescini has established herself in the real estate industry as a leader in pre-construction sales. With nearly two decades of experience, she has launched sales events resulting in over 10,000 units sold for high profile developers. Her expertise has been instrumental in the success of some of the GTA’s fastest selling and most talked about projects.
At Equiton Developments, Kimberley is responsible for developing and executing successful sales and marketing strategies for all condo development and construction projects. She expertly manages all brand awareness initiatives while focusing on delivering exceptional homeowner experiences. Through her strong relationships with brokers, home buyers, and the community, Kimberley has developed an in-depth understanding of the condo sales market, allowing her to market condo sales projects that are in high demand with target consumers.
Kimberley has a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University and is licensed by the Ontario Real Estate Association.
Don Cant
General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
Don has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services and real estate industries. Most recently, he spent over 20 years in senior legal and regulatory compliance roles in wealth management and capital markets at several Canadian chartered banks. An accomplished risk-management professional, he has in-depth knowledge and experience in operations, compliance, governance, and building and developing effective relationships with key regulatory organizations. Don also has valuable real estate experience working for national firms where he assisted with their real estate portfolios. He is responsible for overseeing all legal and compliance matters.
Don has an MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University and a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
Bill has over 25 years’ experience working for a diverse group of rapidly growing businesses where he was responsible for systems and IT teams. These industries include real estate investment and development, healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture. At Equiton Developments, Bill is responsible for all technology-related operations, including software development, systems processing, network infrastructure, and staff support. He assists senior management in developing proprietary systems while maintaining IT security and governance.
Bill has extensive experience with systems platforms, network and database infrastructure, and various programming languages. In addition to ongoing education in programming and systems development, Bill has also studied Business Administration and Computer Programming/Analysis.
Ryan Donkers is a seasoned real estate acquisition professional with 20 years of experience and is highly regarded for building, leading, and inspiring high-performing investment teams. Widely known as an innovator, outstanding communicator, relationship builder, and mentor, he has a demonstrated record of accomplishment of trusted and deep relationships across Canada with brokers, principals, and other real estate professionals for purchases, divestiture, and joint venture opportunities.
At Equiton Developments, Ryan is responsible for identifying and acquiring land or properties for development projects designed to add much needed housing in Canada while generating returns for investors. He also pursues organic growth opportunities and ensures there is an active pipeline of new investment opportunities.
Ryan has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CPA and CA.
Martha is a senior executive with over 25 years of human resources, culture, and leadership experience. She has an entrepreneurial mindset and a demonstrated ability to translate organizational needs into practical solutions. As a true team player, she partners with company leaders to build organizational capabilities, effectiveness, and employee engagement. Martha has expertise in strategic planning, change management, and implementing highly effective HR business models. Martha is responsible for delivering talent management initiatives that support the overall company strategy.
Martha holds an Honours BA in Linguistics & Modern Languages from McMaster University, a Post-Graduate, Human Resources Certificate from Sheridan College and an Executive Leadership Certificate from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Shushmita Mizan
Manager, Development
Shushmita Mizan is a real estate design and development professional with extensive experience in the commercial and residential real estate industry. She has worked at several high-profile development firms where her areas of focus included master planned communities, mixed-use development, comprehensive planning and construction management.
As the Manager of Development at Equiton, she is responsible for managing the entire development process. This includes the full development lifecycle from the initial analysis, zoning approvals, entitlements, design development, and building permits through to completion. Shushmita assembles and manages the teams of consultants required to execute Equiton’s various development projects while working closely with municipal officials on the required approvals and entitlements.
Shushmita has a Master of City & Regional Planning, Public & Private Development and Master of Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning from the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a certificate in Real Estate Design and Development from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Luis Chavez brings over a decade of experience in the construction industry to his role as Pre-Construction Manager. Known for his expertise in project planning, cost estimation, and meticulous attention to detail, Luis has played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of numerous high-profile projects.
At Equiton Developments, Luis is responsible for supporting leadership in the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the pre-construction phase of our development projects. He is accountable for providing thorough, accurate, and competitive estimates to facilitate construction design decisions on time and within budget.
Luis has a Certificate in Construction Management from George Brown College, a Certificate in Project Management from the Business School at Centennial College and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Carabobo in Venezuela.
Adam Moghtaderi is a seasoned professional with over a decade of combined experience in real estate investments, development and construction as well as design engineering.
As Director of Investments, Adam brings a unique perspective in sourcing high-performing development deals. He has intimate knowledge of the real estate market and leverages his industry contacts to source suitable land development opportunities for Equiton. The technical skills acquired throughout his career enable him to bring a holistic approach to analyzing potential development sites, therefore mitigating acquisition risks.
Previously, Adam held prominent positions at several real estate and development firms working across different disciplines, geographies and asset classes. Notably, in his previous role, he worked in buy-side / sell-side transaction advisory on some of the most high-profile deals in the country.
Adam has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and as well a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
